Internship Module 1 Journal Entry
This is my last Winter quarter
at OC, and this blog is going to cover my learning experience with my
internship this quarter and my expectations for this class. For this class itself
I expect that I will be reflecting on my experience with C4 as the days and
weeks progress. At least that is what I
gather that is the purpose with all the assigned weekly journal entries, weekly
progress reports, and weekly meetings with Rich. I think it will be interesting
to have an actual record of my internship journey so that I can compare baby
intern me with slightly seasoned intern me at the end of these 10 weeks.
For the most part I am excited
to embark on this internship journey. I will be forever grateful to Stephen
Foster for starting me on this road and helping me make the connection with
Todd Stabelfeldt. As I am composing this paragraph I have yet to officially
start my internship with C4 Database Management. I am of course also nervous since
I still don't have an idea of what is expected of me and what my job duties will
entail. During my scheduled start session on Wednesday, the plan is to go
over all of this, including completing the objectives worksheet that was
assigned for this class. Another bonus is that
everything is remote, and I will be able to perform my internship duties from
the comfort of my own home.
I have completed my paperwork and I have given the C4 website a look through to get a sense of what this company is about and how they operate. What I know about database servers covers only what I have garnered through textbooks and simulated lab. This would be an experience to see how server management works in a real environment with real devices and in real time. I am assuming that I won’t be assigned any tasks that will pose a real detrimental impact on production, so I will be happy to observe Todd with how he operates his business. I look forward to starting this journey.
